You Can’t Keep Me Down (Under) – Australia’s Allowed 18 Rated Games

Well done Australia. Today you’ve been deemed grown-up enough to be able to play games that are rated R18+, which is the UK equivalent of 18.

I’m sure you could have figured that out. For more on this…
For the longest time, Australia has had a rating system that allowed films to be given the R18+ certificate. Where this was a problem is the fact that Australian law wouldn’t allow games to be rated R18+ . Why they did this, I’m not sure.

A number of games have received Australiafication through the years. This often means reduced gore, sex and violence as demonstrated in this Left 4 Dead 2 video.

Still, that’s all in the past. Today sees the buying and selling of R18+ rated games legalised, meaning Australia can enjoy the wonders of Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude. Well done Australia. You deserve it!
