Sony’s next. Let’s have a look at what they let us have a look at yesterday.
You know how this works. On we go.
Quantic Dreams have showcased their latest ‘interactive movie’ as the trailer showed NO gameplay. If it’s anything like Heavy Rain, it’ll be dependent on pushing buttons to make decisions, rather than actually ‘playing’ the thing.
The biggest news on this game has to be the fact that Ellen Page (you know, Juno) has provided the likeness, voice and motion capture for the main character. I’m not entirely convinced, as Heavy Rain wasn’t much fun to play and its story was, to be honest, a bit shit.
Super Sony Brother Melee Hyper Dimension
Whatever it’s called. You know, the one that’s like Smash Brothers? Anyway, it was shown and it looks perfectly serviceable. Yeah, I’m not sure what else to say on the matter.
Playstation Plus Upgrade
Not a game, obviously, but one of the best pieces of news this E3. If you’re a PS3 owner.
Playstation Plus is now looking like an insanely good proposition as, essentially, you’ll get a lot more bang for your buck. 10 Free games will be available each month, instead of the 2 or 3 you get now. 3 of these games will be full releases such as Infamous 2, Space Marine and Little Big Planet 2.
Truly, you’d have to be a bit tight and a bit mad not to want to sign up to Playstation Plus right now.
Assassin’s Creed 3 – Vita Version
This was short and sweet, but looked nice enough. Assassin’s Creed : Liberation will be a Vita exclusive and links up to the PS3 version of AC3 to unlock new bit and bobs. Have a look.
What really sells me is the Vita bundle. Crystal white Vita, 4gb memory card and a copy of the game? Could be worth my money.
This also gave Ubisoft another excuse to show off their title, this time focusing on the naval battles within the games.
Whilst it certainly looks impressive, I can’t help but feel that actually playing these sections will be frustrating as these huge ships lumber about the ocean, failing to line up their cannons properly. Who knows though, I’m yet to play it.
J.K. Rowling Bullshit
This will get one sentence from me. A stupid looking eye-pet wannabe thing that involves books written by J.K. Rowling, where you get to waggle your Move controller like a wand. Utter nonsense.
God of War : Ascension
This looked to be a case of ‘more of the same’. The latest in the God of War series takes place prior to the events of the other God of War games, though it doesn’t seem to be doing anything new.
Combat looks brutal and enemies plentiful. Just what you’d expect from Kratos.
The Last of Us
Well, this look stunning. The people who bought you Uncharted are now attempting to break into the survival-horror. I’m sleepy right now and my words won’t do it justice.
I love the way that each enemy is looking to be a serious threat. No more Nathan Drake-ing your way through a group of 20 guys, no sir.
That’s it. Only Nintendo left to go.
